Innateness
Regarding Ontology, I’m not sure where I stand on Innatism versus Empiricism. I don’t even know which is more accepted nowadays... Is the perception of how we acquire knowledge relevant to the life we lead?
My experience as an amateur in various fields leads me to conclude that all intellectual branches are similar, except for their form. By form, I mean nomenclature, method, and object of study. But the intellectual power required is quite similar. In other words, mathematics is similar to law or psychology in that it involves relating concepts to create causalities. We are always seeking causalities in our studies, the reasons for things, aiming for better preparation for the future. Our inclination towards this or that area is strongly influenced by the emotional content involved in performing that activity.
Thus, my concept of empiricism is the form of concepts, while we innately have principles of logic. The question then is to understand what kind of logic this is. Is mathematical logic the same as innate logic? Is summation an innate concept? Or, for example, is the acceptance of repetitive patterns a form of logic? Upon deeper analysis of the evolution of our logic, we see that causality is based on the perception of the possibility of repetition. In other words, explaining a phenomenon not as accidental but as causal, based on a reproducible pattern. This reproduction will never be exactly the same in experience, as not all patterns are detectable by the human eye.
These patterns can then be compared to the laws of nature. If our knowledge is innate, then the notion of patterns is too. All experience is merely the definition of various patterns, and another innate concept is the existence of multiple patterns. An intelligent person is one who identifies the maximum number of patterns, having a large memory and a quick capacity to associate different patterns. Empiricism is the physical manifestation of our intelligence.
We might think of a person as a computer; it has mechanisms and machinery to detect repetitions (patterns), but if it is not fed data, it cannot function because the machine does not feed itself. Can we see evidence of God here? Clearly, there are two dimensions at play: internal and external.
